The report contains details about funding programs, incentives, projects, and R&D activities for CCU across Europe and in some specific European countries. The overall objectives were to:

• Provide an overview of the development, programs, and policies related to Carbon Capture and Utilisation (CCU) technologies
• Look for synergies in the energy system, technologies, and overlap with the existing infrastructure in ECCSEL

 
The main goal of that work was to develop a strategy to include potential extensions of the sustainable carbon cycle. Based on sustainable development criteria, a realistic view on CCU and CCS was developed by assessing the synergy potential throughout Europe and beyond and looking at a CCUS alignment strategy and the implications for ECCSEL.
