About 4000 professors in 16 departments teach about 16,000 students (3,500 of which are Ph.D. students) mainly in the engineering sciences and architecture, system-oriented sciences, mathematics and natural sciences areas, and carry out research that is highly valued worldwide. Twenty-one Nobel Laureates have studied, taught or conducted research at ETH Zurich, which underlines the excellent reputation of the institute.
